Will your city be the next to make the switch to clean, electric buses?
It has a good chance if it follows the lead of Racine, Wisconsin. On Feb. 18, WISPIRG Foundation hosted a webinar to discuss clean transportation solutions in Wisconsin and highlight the success story of Racine when it comes to electric buses. We were joined by the city’s sustainability & conservation coordinator, Cara Pratt, along with other local experts and policymakers. The conversation covered the impacts of diesel pollution on public health and our climate, the myriad benefits of switching to electric buses, and the lessons we can learn from Racine’s success.
“In addition to having no tailpipe emissions, electric buses are actually cheaper to own and operate in the long run than their diesel equivalents,” said WISPIRG Foundation’s Transform Transportation Associate Susanna Cain. “They remain expensive to purchase, however, so we need more teams like in Racine working to take on the electric bus challenge.”
